Direct Query DAX Measures?

Is there a way I can view DAX measures of a dataset within the desktop from a direct query of a dataset in the Power BI Service?

Many thanks

@MossyD , what is the objective here. You want to look at the definition or you want to use the measure. the definition I doubt you can see if you use dataset.

Hi @MossyD ,

Do you want to be able to view the formulas applied to the measures directly in Power BI Service? If so, I'm afraid I can't do that based on my research. If your report is created from Power BI Desktop and published to Power BI  Service. Also you have build permission of report, you can download the .pbix file and open it in Power BI Desktop to view the formula of involved measures. The prerequisite is that the export feature is enabled in the admin portal.

In addition, please note that there is no hit to any of the following limitations when try to download the pbix file...

Hi @v-yiruan-msft

Thank you for your response.

Yes. I understand now that the measure formula cannot be viewed from within the desktop when using a DQ to a dataset 👍

I am looking for the same thing. Before I use a measure in a report (using DQ to a dataset), I want to verify the DAX.

@MossyD , If you have report using the dataset, open that in edit mode, or try to create a report in power bi service with the dataset. You should be able to see the available measures there

Hi @amitchandak

Thanks for your response, I am thinking you are advising creating or opening the report in the PBI service.

But, is there a way, from using Direct Query, I  "...can view DAX measures of a dataset within the desktop"?

Many thanks

"...what is the objective here"

The objective is to have visibility of the measure code and to see the measure.

Many thanks
