Desktop file size after removing Custom Visual

Hi All,

I added some custom visuals to my PBIX file and later removed it. However, it didn't reduce file size. I removed everything else just to see if anything else causing issue but still file size didn't change.

Is there any way to reduce file size?

Thanks for any inputs!

Regards

Buddhi

@abpgupta hmmm that's different, not sure why. That is a drastic size change. I have to test a few things at my end, don't have any handy explanation.

Thanks @parry2k  for additional inputs!  I don't have anything else in my file.

Before adding Custom Visual - 250 KB

After Adding multiple Custom Visuals - 2.6 MB

When I removed Custom Visuals - Size remained same (2.6 MB).

@abpgupta I don't think custom visual will have a big impact on the file size, it must be your data model. The biggest thing you need to check is to turn off Auto Date/Time under options. When this setting is one, it adds a hidden calendar for each date column in your model and which can really make the data model size quite big. I have seen the size reduced by 70%-80%, that would be the first thing I will check. and turn off that setting.
