Date Comparisons

Hi all, I am have searched everywhere, and am struggling with this issue. I am also sorry if it has been asked before, but I am not finding the right answer.

I have a table with a lot of lead data that comes in on a daily basis from various sources. I want to be able to have a graph that shows the number of leads received that month (currently filtered by a slicer), but then a further 2 graphs for comparison, one of the previous period, and one for the same time the previous year.

Any thoughts?

@mikesqu , You can use time intelligence with date calendar

MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD('Date'[Date]))
last MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,MONTH)))
last year MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-12,MONTH)))
last year MTD (complete) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFMONTH(dateadd('Date'[Date],-12,MONTH))))
Month behind Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Month))
last QTR same Month (complete) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFMONTH(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Qtr))))
MTD (Year End) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFYEAR('Date'[Date])))
MTD (Last Year End) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFYEAR(dateadd('Date'[Date],-12,MONTH),"8/31")))
last MTD (complete) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFMONTH(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,MONTH))))

To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :

also if you share some data (in text form) with what you trying to do then that would be helpful to create a model example for you

you can use sameperiodlastyear functions and dateadd to get to the exactly functions you need.

this highlights it quite well https://databear.com/power-bi-dax-sameperiodlastyear-paralellperiod-and-dateadd/
