Hi all,
i have troubles with modeling in power bi with different granularities.
I have two fact tables:
1) Quantity: the table has item_key and qty;
2) Times: the table has model_key, project_key and time;
For dimension i have:
1) Models: the table has model_key and some attributes;
2) Projects: the table has project_key and some attributes;
3) Items: the table has item_key, model_key, project_key and some attributes.
So every key is unique apart of model_key and project_key in the items table: multiple items can refer to the same combination of model_key and project_key.
The goal is to create a model that if use a measure from Times it will pick model_key and project_key from their related tables, instead if i use a measure from Quantity it will pick model_key and project_key from Items.
Is it possible? We've done this in the logical model of Oracle BI but we have to move to Power BI.
Thanks in advance,
Francesco
Hi, @FrancescoSCP
It’s my pleasure to answer for you.
According to your description,You need to create relationships between tables(If the column names and data types are the same,PBIwill automatically create a relationship),then you can use them in visuals.
Measure is not restricted by the table,so as long as you perfect the relationship between tables, you can easily create measures for different tables.
If it doesn’t solve your problem, please feel free to ask me.

Hi Janey,
yes i know that i have to create the relationships between the tables and measure is not restricted by the table.
The question is how to model this.

Francesco
Hi, @FrancescoSCP
It depends on your data and what you want to show.You need to connect to the data sources,then create relationships,then create measures, then create visuals.
Which link did you have a problem with?
Could you mind providing some sample data and desired results?
