Data limits for API query

I'm just starting out in Power BI and I'm trying to get data from an API (i.e. 'web') into the Power BI Desktop. The refresh hangs at 'Evaluate' without any further message. When I look at the API response in a browser there are 4767000 rows.

Given the fact this refresh hangs means most likely I have gone over a limit. What is the limit for API queries? Why is there no message? I had a look at this article butcan't really find anything related to this context

Hi @tfmeier_oz ,

I think you can cancel the refresh and then try again. Please make sure your Power BI Desktop is the latest version.

Here I suggest you to refer to below blog to learn more details about Refresh Performance in Power Query Editor.

For reference: Chris Webb's BI Blog: Power BI, Caching, Parallelism And Power Query Refresh Performance (crossjoin....

Does your API support paging?

It didn't support but I managed to get the developers to add paging. It's ok now. Thanks for the tip
