I have created a calculated column and want to return country names from the countries table. I am on the buildings table.
My DAX
Column =
IF (
ISBLANK ( RELATED ( Countries[Country] ) ),
RELATED ( Countries[Country] ) = "Other",
RELATED ( Countries[Country] )
)
I get an error saying expressions that yield variant data type cannot be used to define calculated columns.
The countries table has 2 columns Code and Country. Code is the 2 letter abbrevition while Country is the full name.
Ex.
AU AUSTRALIA
What I'm trying to say is return the country name but if the value is blank then return the text "Other"
Thanks.

I figured this out. I needed to remove the RELATED before other.
Working DAX
Column =
IF (
ISBLANK ( RELATED ( Countries[Country] ) ),
"Other",
RELATED ( Countries[Country] )
)
