Custom Data Label DAX

Hi - apologies if this is a very simple solution. I'm trying to take advantage of the relatively new "custom label" option in the stacked bar chart visual. I would like the label to include the value of the bar, but then append the text from two columns in a related table. I have created this code, but the issue is that the option to 'sum' the data in the visual has gone, as it is now text-based, and it only shows the value of the first entry.  Is there a way to pre-sum the data in dax, so that I can then add it to the visual? here's what I have:

RescourcedDays_PDPL = Proj_LabourBudgetWeeks[Resourced_Days] & " - " & RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_NameShort]) & "... (PL:"  & RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_Manager_FirstName]) & "_PD:" & RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_Director_FirstName]) &")"

I have tried:

RescourcedDays_PDPL = SUM(Proj_LabourBudgetWeeks[Resourced_Days]) & " - " & RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_NameShort]) & "... (PL:"  & RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_Manager_FirstName]) & "_PD:" & RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_Director_FirstName]) &")"
but that seems to simply sum the whole column, and I get the same number for each label.

Any advice greatly appreciated,

@oswaldosborne , Make sure you are using measure not column

SUM(Proj_LabourBudgetWeeks[Resourced_Days]) & " - " & Maxx(Proj_LabourBudgetWeeks, RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_NameShort])) & "... (PL:" & Maxx(Proj_LabourBudgetWeeks,RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_Manager_FirstName])) & "_PD:" & Maxx(Proj_LabourBudgetWeeks,RELATED(Proj_Projects[Project_Director_FirstName])) &")"
