Hi,
I am new to Power BI and DAX and I was wondering if someone could help me.
I have a table with duplicated names in a column, I would like a DAX formula to count the amount of times it see's a name.
For instance if Jamie were to appear 3 times, I would like it to show
Name Instance
Jamie 1
Jamie 2
Jamie 3
Your help and time is greatly appriciated ![]()

To do this in DAX..you will need to add an Index Column from the Query Editor first.
Then you can use this Calculated Column
Instance_ = RANKX ( FILTER ( Table1, [Name] = EARLIER ( [Name] ) ), [Index],, ASC, DENSE )
