Dear all
i have a report which is querying different sources: Two different databases, and some network folders. I mean source is the folder itself, not a specific file in the folder.
The computer where PowerBi Desktop resides is joined to a domain, while computers where folders are shared are not part of the domain.
From the PowerBi computer i can open all the shares with no problem, simply providing username in the "HOSTNAME\username" format
But the report keeps giving me error "The credentials provided for the Folder source are invalid. Please update the credentials through a refresh or in the Data Source Settings dialog to continue. (Source at \\192.168.x.x\sharedfolder$."
Yes i have a $ in the end of the share name to have it hidden
I have tried passing username in many different formats (username only, HOSTNAME\username , .\username..) , no way
What shoukld i try next? Any idea?
thank you very much!
I have the same problem. managed to solve?
Well actually i have the problem both with online report, and data gateway, and with local Desktop application.
But i want to troubleshoot local problem first.
I can easily open shares from the powerbi desktop machine
I cannot use domain\username cause the computers where folders resides are not joined to the domain
Hi, @Radiolontra ;
You mean there is no problem with the PowerBI Desktop connection, but the gateway of the service has an error, right?
You could try "Domin\username" format;
Have you check to ensure all system, Power BI and SQL sever have access to the folder your trying to read from?
