Hi,
I am trying to create a report for a published dataset & even though I am the admin I do not have a view of the Data. Does anyone know if that is just a restriction with creating a report from a published dataset even if you are the admin?
Any help would be much appreciated 🙂

Hello @Anonymous ,
well because the data is in a seperate file and you're just reading from it then you can't view it unless you open the file having the data.
It's not about the access type, being an admin or a viewer or a member , its just the data is stored in another place.

Hello! Correct, when you are utilizing a live connection you will not see the data/table view. You would need to open the pbix file for the data model or download it from service.

Hello @Anonymous ,
You need to download the power bi file that has the published dataset so you could see the data view.

This seems strange that an Admin cannot have a view of the data when they want to create a seperate report from a published dataset (without having the original one opened). Is there no way around this? Maybe this is what dataflows help with?
As an example, I created a KPI Report for a client and I want to build a Financial Statement report using the same dataset, surely there is a way I can do this & view the data without having to open or download the KPI Report?
