Created vs resolved Issues

Hello Friends,

I have looked at several articles about Created vs resolved tickets and could not find the right solution. My goal is to just have a line chart with Total count created and Total count resolved per month for the issues (not necessarily when each ticket was resolved). Feels straight forward but could not make it to work ? This was straight forward in Jira.  Any examples would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Thank you for your reply. Yes i did create the date dimension like i said above but did not work. After several attempts  i realized that datatypes were not matching, once i changed that to Date type it started working. Yay.

Hi, In Addition to details above: i have tried to create a date table and relationships to my created and resolved dates and 2 measures created count and resolved count based on this artucle Solved: Re: Trend Created Vs Resolved - Microsoft Power BI Community but no luck. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, @Anonymous

What is your data model like?

Does the data for Created and resolved tickets come from the same table?

If they are from different tables, you need to create a date dimension table and establish the relationship with them.

@Anonymous Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.

Hello Greg,

Thank you for the followup. I am trying to combine into one chart showing trends side by side on total tickets created and resolved each month.
