Create boxplot in PowerBI

Hi all,

I have a question regarding to boxplot. I used box and whisker by MAQ software to create boxplot. I had 2 variables that I want to illustrate, one is continuous type (monthly salary), and the other is categorical type (career level e.i new, junior and senior). I grabbed monthly salary into "value" row of Visualizations pane, career level into "axis category I". But there was nothing but just some dots. I added one more variable of marital status and it works! Additionally, there were some green dots in each box plot to show specific values regarding to marital status, monthly salary and career level.

I do not really understand why I need to add that additional variable (marital status) to aggregate in order to create the boxplot, as I thought we can aggregate monthly salary in regard to career level. Besides, I do not really get it with the meaning of axis, axis category I. I think axis is already enough for the creation of boxplot?

Thank you in advance if you can give me some hints!

Each visual has a support page (you'll find these details where you've taken the visual from). Why don't you try this first? It only makes sense to go and look at the information that the very source gives you.
