Corrupt Project - Recovery Options

Ok so an application error closed PBI while I was working on my solution. Im only working in Desktop and havent published to the service. My project is now corrupted and unrecoverable. There is nothing in the Auto Recover folder. I've tried installing the December version - still no luck. Ive tried renaming the PBIX to .zip to open but its not recognised as a zip file. Ive lost days of work. Even lucky that I saved a copy two weeks ago. Desperately in need of assistance ! Can anyone offer any other suggestions ?

Only thing I can suggest would be to try a couple of zip fix tools.
