Converting to shared dataset

I have just learned about the beauty of shared and certified datasets!

However I have reports that are built using 1:1 model, 1 report per 1 dataset, and would like to migrate to a shared dataset.

What would be the easiest way to do this?

OK, one method that you can use is to create the new dataset. Create a blank report for that dataset (Live). Open your old PBIX, copy and paste visuals. Not fun but that should work as long as your data table names, columns and such are the same.

I have converted many reports to switch data sources using the Advanced Editor in Query Editor. However, I have never tried that method to convert between import and Live.

That is a very complex question. And depends a lot on the particulars of your situation. I am guessing that these 1:1 are all import model, correct? And is the desire to replace these with Live connections to a shared dataset living in the Service?

Correct, these are import models.  I would like to replace this with the same dataset, but it will be a version that is certified and shared.  So yes, i think the answer is it will be a Live connection?

Right now we are building new reports from the same dataset, then uploading.  Causing duplicated datasets, just with a different name.
