Connecting to an AlwaysOn read-only copy

Is there a way to setup a connection that passes 'read only' to an AlwaysOn Listener so it uses the Read-Only copy?

To hit the read-only replica in AlwaysOn, set in your connection string:

ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly

In Power BI → Get Data → SQL Server → Advanced options → add ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly.

This routes queries to the readable secondary (if enabled).

Were you able to do this in Direct Query mode?

This is now inplemented as "enable sql server failover support" in the advanced query settings. But I cant find any other information about it than what's said in the January Power BI blog and the Mars Excel bog

Did you ever get an answer for this?
