Column Header Grouping problems

Dear Community,

I tried several approaches and found a lot of hints how to solve my problem to build up asymetrical/custom matrixes. BUT in all cases I failed. Even provided examples (powerbi - Custom aggregate column in power bi matrix - Stack Overflow) by just open them and rebuild the exact same matrix doesn't work.

Like here : The left is the original one, right the one I tried to rebuild. The grouped row is missing, even though I added it to the columns. Is there any formatting/ordering/sorting problem?Screenshot 2025-03-27 150751.png

The columns (Spalten) are the problem, when I reorder them, I always get one row as header but not the two from the example:

I tried SWITCH measures, hybrid tables, calculation groups.

What I actually want build is something like, grouped by months and summarization, like from the example:

Thank you very much. Every comment, hint is highly appreciated.

Hi @usernamen ,

Can you please share a mockup data or sample of your PBIX file. You can use a onedrive, google drive, we transfer or similar link to upload your files.

If the information is sensitive please share it trough private message.

Hi @usernamen ,

On the file you shared I was able to replicate the table at first attempt no problem. But I believe I was able to identify your issue.

The question is about the order of the columns on you image you present header and then group:

If I do that I do not get the proper result:

MFelix_1-1743258319586.png

If i change the order of the two columns then I get the result you want:

Before drill down

MFelix_2-1743258361611.png

After drill down

MFelix_3-1743258380788.png

I believe that is your problem, in this case the Header is the column you want to have at the lowest level while the group refers to the aggregation of those values:

Has you can see the Group column is repeated for each hearder value.

Hi Felix,

thank you for your answer. Here you can download the file: PBIX  It is not my file, it was just an example I found, doing exactly what I want to see. When I now rebuild the matrix in this file (see above), it doesn't work. I guess the problem there, is the same problem I have with the original data to get the columns properly grouped.

Thank you

Hi @usernamen

Could you please share the PBIX file in which you are trying to rebuild the matrix? Since the file you provided is an example that works correctly, having the PBIX you are working on will help us better understand and solve the issue.

Thank you.
