Colour themes

When I create a custom theme the colours appear in Power BI as theme colour 1, theme colour 2 e.t.c.  Can I add the name of the colour - dark blue, light green - in the json file or otherwise to help my colour blind colleagues?

Hi @audslloyd43 ,

I do not think that you can in the defaults.  However, you can get the output like this article by Christ Webb.

https://blog.crossjoin.co.uk/2018/08/10/colour-names-supported-in-power-bi-conditional-formatting/

I would appreciate Kudos if my response was helpful. I would also appreciate it if you would Mark this As a Solution if it solved the problem. Thanks!

Thanks.  We have set hex colours we need to use for brand.  I was hoping there may be a way to label the colour so the name shows when you hover over the template in Power BI. Something like:

"dataColors": ["#A8D1E6", "#ACD7C8", "#BAC1E3", "#0075BD", "#04928F" (THIS IS DARK BLUE), "#7874B5", "#696969",
  "#CDCDCD", "#F0F0F0", "#F6F6F6", "#000000", "#FFFFFF", "#DC211F", "#EB8D07", "#FAE4E4", "#FCF1E1"],

But I don't know what format this would take.

Hi , @audslloyd43

I‘m afraid it doesn't support currently.It is difficult to achieve what you want by modifying the json file.

Once you modify the information in the json file in other forms (like text:dark blue, etc.) rather than  hex code for the colors ( "#04928F"), it will be difficult for powerbi to recognize the theme color.
