We need to be able to change the datasource
- in desktop without apply,
- on the dataset in app.powerbi.Com (not in desktop).
Currently, to my knowledge, it is not possible to change a datasource without having access rights to the source.
In some scénario, it is required the PowerBI developer does not have acecss to the production source, for example when the power bi connecto only support the Storage account master key as a credentail (obviously we can't give developers the prodcution stoage account master key). We develop on a non production data source, and then we need to change the source to deploy in production where we can connect the source to a data gateway where the datasource is configured and where we have the rights to use the datasource (access security is delegated on the gateway datasource).
