Change Direct Query to Import query and Refresh
Hi Heinrich
Import mode refresh automatically happens only on Power BI service. but if you want your Power Bi desktop report should automatically refresh you have to manaullay refresh it by clicking on refresh button.
Power BI desktop report wont refresh automatically everytime you want lastest data you have to hit refresh button. But once you setup the gateway and schedule a refresh on Power bi service it will refresh on daily weekly basis.

So in Power BI Service it would be possible, right?
BTW. Do you know if it is possible to change CQD / QER from direct query to import query?

If you're connected by Direct Query, you'll see the message "DirectQuery: Enabled (Click to Change)" in the status bar at the bottom right hand screen on Power BI Desktop:
Click on the message, then you should be able to change Direct Query to Import Model.
