Hope someone can help as I have a report i have spent quite some time on and i have enountered this issue at the last hurdle 😞
PBI Desktop version: 2.63.3272.40262 32-bit (October 2018)
Issue: Initially i had PBI crashing a few times when i have left it running in the background for 30 min or so. This didnt bother me too much as i had saved my filed regularly. I opened it up this morning, refreshed a datasource which was all fine, however when i try to save the file I get the below error:
I have tried saving, saving as, closing the file (unsaved) and repeating but get the same error.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much
Ben
EDIT: Just some additional info...
I reopened the file.. saved straight away - ok.
I then changed a few charts and fields, saved again - ok.
Refreshed a dataset - error!
So it seems to be when refreshing a dataset. But it's the same format as before - no changes and it loads fine, just wont save.
Let me know if more info needed - can send logs, etc.
So generally what you want to do is open up Power BI and go to File | Options and settings | Options and then Diagnostics. Turn on "Enable tracing" and enable your Crash dump collection. After that when you get it to happen again, You could check the Issues forum here:
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues
And if it is not there, then you could post it.
If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".
Even if you don't have a Pro account, the Power BI team at Microsoft is generally highly interested in cases of Power BI Desktop crashing.
Thanks for the reply, I have enabled this and the issue has occurred again.
What info do i need to check if the issue is listed in the url you provided - where do i need to look for this crash data?
Cheers
Ben
Any advise on previous question?
Also i tried reinstalling PBI Desktop.
This worked for a few hours yesterday but i've got the same error again this morning.
Thanks
Ben
