Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on my test connecting to SQL Server with DirectQuery mode in the latest version 2.83.5894.721 of Power BI Desktop, creating a parameter is ok in Query Editor. You may upgrade the Power BI Desktop to the latest version , and try it again.

Best Regards,

Amy

@Anonymous what is your data source? If it is a live connection or direct query to SSAS MD, you cannot make any changes to the model.
