Cannot Open server, requested log in failed

Trouble connecting to Azure sql. 

Tried editing data source permissions from Data source settings. 

Cleared permissions and re entered, Cleared cached, nothing worked.

What else can I try?

I'm able to use Azure SQL database without any problems. I've been using this datasource for months, but now I suddenly have log in issues. Will check the firewall rules again

I have same issue - SSMS is fine with it but PowerBI can't access it.   I'm accessing it from Azure VM that's allowed in the firewall - ssms access proves that.  Support says open firewall to Power BI?  How the heck do you open a firewall to a program?  What are they talking about?

Please ensure that the account has permission to access the master database, and you have set up a firewall rule to allow Power BI Desktop to make a connection to Azure SQL.
