Cannot Load Model – MSOLAP Connection Error When Embedding Power BI Report

Description: I am encountering an error when trying to load a Power BI report embedded in my application. Couldn't load the model schema associated with this report.

Could you please suggest possible troubleshooting steps and best practices to resolve this issue.

Additional possibilities:

  • Check Permissions: Ensure that the service principal or user account has the necessary permissions to access the XMLA endpoint of the dataset.
  • Correct Authentication Path: Verify that the correct authentication path is being used to access the dataset.
  • Service Principal Settings: If using a service principal, ensure that it has service principal access enabled at both the tenant and workspace levels.
  • Move to Supported Workspace: If the dataset is in a PPU workspace, consider moving it to a Premium (Fabric) capacity workspace or using a user account token instead of the service principal.
