Bookmark Bug?

Hi,

when I click on a bookmark and update it, it seems to apply to all the other bookmarks, this seems to only be happening since yesterday (maybe linked to the new update?)

E.g I have a current week bookmark and a today bookmark. When I update the today bookmark, I then click back onto my current week bookmark and it is displaying the exact same data that my today bookmark was updated to... I have since tried this on a brand new report with basic data and the bookmarks dont seem to be updating at all

Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Hi @BenKennedy ,

Yes, others have reported similar bookmark issues in Power BI recently, especially after new updates. When updating a bookmark, it sometimes overrides the state of other bookmarks or bookmarks fail to update/restore their intended views. This appears to be a bug introduced in the latest Power BI update (July 2024).

What you can try:

  • Restart Power BI Desktop and try again—sometimes a simple restart helps.

  • Check for updates and apply any hotfixes from Microsoft.

  • If the issue persists, revert to a previous Power BI Desktop version if possible (if your organization allows it).

  • Report the bug on the Power BI Issues page.

  • As a temporary workaround, try to avoid updating existing bookmarks; instead, create new ones if you need to capture new states.

Seems to have fixed itself, not sure if Microsoft released an update but all good now. Thanks

Hi @BenKennedy ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Thank you to @rohit1991 for the valuable input. We have noticed that several users are experiencing similar bookmark issues in Power BI Desktop, especially after the July 2025 update. Specifically, updating one bookmark can affect others, or bookmarks may not restore the correct view. While Microsoft has not yet released official guidance, we are monitoring the situation.

As a workaround, please make sure to enable “Selected visuals” when creating or updating bookmarks, and try to create new bookmarks rather than updating existing ones. Restarting Power BI Desktop, checking for updates, or reverting to a previous version may also help for now.

If the issue persists, we encourage you to report it on the Power BI Issues page  as mentioned by @rohit1991 so it can be tracked by the product team.

Hope this helps. Please reach out for further assistance.

Thank you.
