Basic question

Hi guys,

I need help on how to setup the first big data project in my company. I´ve learned a lot about Power BI the last 5 months and made progress with data analysis in general. Now I need to setup a first cloud based solution for all future actions within the company.

Data source are CSV files on a daily basis, which have to be uploaded into Power BI automatically - a new row is added every day. I did all the transformation steps in Power Query for Power BI Desktop so far.

So do you have any tips on how to set this up in a cloud based solution?

And is there a way to import the data source automatically so the report itself can refresh after that?

hope you guys can help!
Cheers

@IEPMost

Try Creating Dataflow in Power BI service from CSV Data and then use that cloud connection to create the Report which will more automatic.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/transform-model/dataflows/dataflows-create

you can see the relavant documentation from this link

if you set up a schedule in the servie an imported power bi model will automatially update.

when you say a cloud solution what solution are you implementing specifically? if you are using one drive and you set up a schedule, it will automatically update in the service.

Hi @vanessafvg ,

thank you for the quick reply!

I know about the schedule refresh - what I need is, that everytime the CSV file gets a new row Power BI (or Power Query) should go through all the tranformation steps which I set up and then refresh the report. And all this should happen in the cloud (maybe azure is the way to go here?), so there is no affect on the computing power of my local PC.

So a CSV file gets updated on my local Computer then it goes on to the cloud where all my data is, data get transformed and then the Power BI Report gets refreshed as well.

Any tips for that? Hope you know what I mean.

Cheers:)
