Hello everyone! I'm creating a report that uses Business Warehouse server as Data Source. Is in BW that I store all my information and it is organized by dates. In addition, I make some calculations directy on BW Query that depends directly on the dates of the information. Taking that into account I'm creating a report in PowerBI, and to do so I created a Mandatory Input Query that you must fill in order to bring the information depending that date. The issue that I'm having is that initially I can create a report with the data associated with that Date Query that I select... But then I cannot find a way to update my report with a new Date Query, this means that I always have to create a new report and select a different Date Query... This is how I am doing this:
3. When accessing to the data, theres a date query that must the introduced in order to access to the data, also this query is necessary to calculate some variables:
4. Once the dates are introduced the data that fits in the dates specified appear on the report:
Now, the issue comes when I need to introduce new data from a different Query, which means data that has a different Date Query... What I am doing is to click on Refresh, and I thought the system would prompt the same window from the beginning (shown in step 4) in order to introduce the Date Query... However, it doesn't happen...So the question is… How can I modify de Initial Date Query that I introduced when I started creating my report?
Alternatively, I repeated all the process but in the second step, I put Direct Query instead of Import:
When I do this, the system also asks me to fill the Date Query information:
That way I can create the report exactly the same way I created the last one with Import, but when I click on Refresh to put a different Date Query there’s an error:
If there was no error this would give me an option to modify the Date Query?
Please tell me if this is possible 😞
The image of the error is wrong in the message.... The error is this:
