AzureMap : points & reference layer

Hi there, i try to figure out how to display points (representing companies) on a map with a reference layer (displaying cities colored by a kpi).

I manage to do both of the tricks separatly :

- displaying (1 million !!) companies with coordinates (lat/long) => azure map can handle (hurray)

- on a distinct map, adding a reference layer, connecting it with my table, coloring the cities from red (high hydric stress) to green (low) and it works pretty fine

But when I try to locate my companies on the map with the colored layer, it seems that my lat/long got conflicted with my layer key field (placed in the Location property).

Am I wrong ? or it is not possible to locate lat/long dots while adding colored layer ?

Adding the layer with the dots works though. The issue arise when i try to color the layer.

Hi   - You’re not wrong, this is a known limitation/behavior of the Power BI Azure Maps visual.

workaround, you should try , used two Azure Maps visuals layered visually (stacked) >> Bottom: colored cities >> Top: companies (transparent background) also, Turn on clustering for companies.

Hope this helps.

FYI we managed to do it by adding an attribute < fill_color > in the json file

so color info will be upload with the polygons info without joining the table

it lets properties lat/long free to collect companies bubbles

so the map can handle both cities color and bubbles displaying at the same time

hi @RA and thanks for your reply ! i think of this workaround but didn't even try since my users will zoom in and it won't work on both of the maps 🙂
