Hi,
A user have reported to me that a the Azure Map visual stopped working for him in desktop. He says it still works for him in the service. I have checked and we have enabled azure maps for the whole organization. I have tested and it works just fine for me.
Does anyone have any suggesgtions on how to proceed with this?
Thanks!

Hello @pbi_taken
Could you please ask the user to perform the following checks?
1)Update Power BI to the latest version.
2)Clear cache:
Go to File > Options and Settings > Options > Global > Data Load and click Clear cache. Then, reconnect to the dataset.
Please let us know the results of these tests.
Also, I don’t have Power BI Desktop installed on my laptop — could you check whether the Azure Map visual is still listed as a preview feature?
If it is, the issue may be caused by the user not having this feature enabled.
They can find it here:
File > Options and Settings > Options > Preview features
Thanks!
Hi @pbi_taken
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
Older versions of Power BI Desktop will show error messages for the Azure Maps visual, requiring users to upgrade to version April 2025 or later.
Also users on unsupported versions of Power BI Desktop may see an error message indicating a tenant setting needs to be enabled. However, the error cannot be resolved without upgrading to at least the April 2025 version.

Hi @pbi_taken It might be due to a local configuration or permissions issue. Start by ensuring the user’s Power BI Desktop version is updated and matches the service compatibility. Check that the user is signed in with the same credentials in both Power BI Desktop and Service. Also, verify their internet connection and firewall settings to confirm Azure Maps can communicate with its servers. If the issue persists, clearing Power BI Desktop cache or reinstalling it might help resolve any potential software glitches.
