Automatic refresh with one of the sources as a local file

In my report, I have two data sources: sales information from Business Central, and a local excel-file that lists all postal codes in my country.  The latter is used for filtering and contains about 18 000 rows.

In app.powerbi.com I want to set up the report for automatic updates.

Now, before I added the local file, it worked like a charm.

However, once I added the local file, I get this error:

Data source error:

Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh.

Now obviously, this is correct since app.powerbi doesn't have access to my local file.

However, the local file doesn't need updating since it's just static values.

How can I use a local file and a BC source, and turn on automatic updates but only for the BC source?

Hi Andre-Sis, You need a Gateway to connect your local file to Power BI : https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/gateway/ Otherelse, you can store your local file in a Sharepoint, or Onedrive. In that case you don't need a Gateway to refresh your Dataset. Regards

Thank you!  I moved the local file to a sharepoint - but how do I connect it to my report? I tried using the link option (URL) in PowerBI, but it didn't work.

You must connect using the followings :

And when it asks the URL, copy paste only the root URL.

Hope it helps.
