Hi
Realise this is also kind of an Excel question, but am posting it here because I hope someone can help.
I managed to connect my PowerBI data set to Excel and create pivot tables.
However, when I attempt to create a Timeline in Excel I get a this error...
I have plenty of Date fields in my data set and can create a conventional slicer, just not a Timeline
Solved! Go to Solution.
Based on my test, Analyze in Excel automatically changes the field from Date type to General type. You might need to manually change those columns to Date type to create a timeline.

@graemejohnson , are using a date column in the timeline or the column detected as date ?
