Adding space in Clustered Column Chart

Hello,

 I have a clustered column chart as per attached and i am trying to see if i can increase the space between the lines. This graph doesnt have any drill down and the legend is based of a single field. It only has around 5 values i.e Shipped, Cancelled, Complete, Pending, Testing. With the size of the chart, it looks really awkward placing them. I cannot shrink the entiere chart as it messed with the look of the entire visual. Messed aorung padding, categeory width etc. but nothing. 

Is it possible to acheive this ?

No, this is not the solution all the time. I have same issue and constantly see this solution; for this solution, people are not being clear!  I have data just like this, just 7 bars of data, and have the same issue. But I have nothing in Legend or Axis so this solution makes no sense. I tried the same things - inner padding, etc. PowerBi makes the easiest things so complicated some times...Why is it so impossible to make the bars fatter and make spaces in between them, rather than having the only bar chart option be "clustered"?

Hi @mello ,

This is a clustered column chart so the values are automatically clustered if you don't select any values for your axis you only have one aggregation that is no aggregation so you get no spaces between the columns:

If you have an axis value or a legend the you get some spaces:

Again since you have several measures within each category within the same cluster (category / axis value) you don't have a space between the columns.

In you case I assume you are using measure for your chart in this case you need to make use of a disconnected table to show the values you need and use a switch measure to separate the values something similar to:

Measure for bars = SWITCH(
SELECTEDVALUE(MeasureSelection[MeasureSelection]),
"Values", SUM('Table'[Values]),
"Measure", [Measure])

This has to do with the way the chart works, in Excel you  have an extra option that is the series Overlap that is not present in Power BI so the bar appear by default with 0 spacing and can only be change by adding the axis values.

Believe this comes from the fact that in Power BI the X-axis values is created by default has a series and on Power bi you have to be explicit about it.

It's a disconnected table that was created. 

But now you can use the field parameters to do this an the table and the field to use will be created when you Creta the field parameters table.

Instead of using the legend place them in the Axis this will split the values and make a space between your columns.
