Adding measure on value the but catagory on rows getting varnished

Hi All,

I am a new learner of Power BI desktop. I have created 3 measure here.

1. Average Retail Price =

Average retail price =
AVERAGE(
    'Product Lookup'[ProductPrice]
)
2. Order Quantity =
SUM(
    'Sales Data'[OrderQuantity]
)
3. Quantity Returned =
SUM(
    'Returns Data'[ReturnQuantity]
)

And, when I am adding Catagory name on Row, without measure values, the catagory names are coming. Like below

But when I am adding values there the catagory names are varnshing. Can anyone help me on this please?

Hi @Saroj_kumar,

It seems like the category values might be disappearing because the measures you are trying to display may not have any values for their corresponding categories. That's the default behaviour of Power BI.

Could you try using the "Show Items with no data" option to see if the categories are populating?

  • Right click on category field in columns bucket in visualizations tab
  • Select "Show Items with no data" option

Let me know if this does not work and I'll try to help.

Thank you so much for the solution.

Can you guide me, I have selected as you shared. But the for each accessory is not coming.

Hi,

The fields are being dragged from the wrong tables.  To receive further help, share the download link of your PBI file with the visual already created there.

Hi @Saroj_kumar,

Seeing the data, it looks like you are using the Adventure Works Dataset in Power BI. That's the same dataset I had used while learning Power BI!

I am not completely sure why the measure values for categories are not populating for you, but there can few reasons for that -

  • The relationships between your tables may not be correctly set. Please check if the relationships between your Category table, Sales table, and Returns table are correctly set up.
  • The measures may not be working correctly. Check if you need to use the RELATED DAX function anywhere.

It seems like we are using the exactly same Adventure Works dataset, because I found the original PBIX file I had created years ago when I was learning Power BI, and I get almost the same values in the table visual as yours

Let me know if you manage to resolve the issue or if you need further assistance. Feel free to share your PBIX file, and I'll do my best to help you out.
