Access PowerBI Service Dataset(pusblished using REST API) from Power BI Desktop

I want to access powerBI dataset already available in PowerBi Service for building a new report in Power BI Desktop. How can get the dataset existing in PowerBI service(pusblished using REST API)  for my Power BI Desktop report creation. Please share your thoughts.

@bilaharim I don't think you can use dataset published to power bi service in anyway (rest api or via desktop) in power bi desktop. Closest you can get is using Analyze in Excel feature but I guess that is not what you want. You can also use power bi service itself to build reports from the published dataset but that won't give you data modelling part. Best way for you would be to create report via power bi service using published dataset from rest api.

@AnkitPatira Thanks for the input. Thats what i was considering - to build report from power Bi service  . Curious to know anyone encountered such a situation and figured out any work around .

@bilaharim

Currently, it's not supported to bring Power BI from online (Service) to offline (Desktop). I think the best workaround is exporting the visuals/tiles into csv file and use this file as data source in Power BI Desktop.
