AWS Database EncryptedConnectionFailed Error sometimes

Good day everyone,

I currently have a most courious problem on hand. I have a local Data Gateway. On this gateway I have created a connection to a AWS MySQL Database. This connection works in the cloud (or at least I though so) correcly, the Power BI test connection worked etc.

Now I have some reports that use this connection, most of which work correctly. I have two reports though, that throw this error 95% of the the times.
Its not 100% of the time, since I had a signular refresh come through yesterday, after which it did not work anymore again.
Locally it refreshes correctly.

I already updated the local gateway to the newest, updated the MySql driver.
Im out of ideas, what could cause this. Error is attached.

Every help is appreciated.

Hi @esakie ,

The error message indicates that the MySql source doesn’t support encrypted connections. Let’s explore some potential solutions:

Check Encryption Settings:

  • Ensure that the MySQL connection settings in your Power BI report are configured correctly. Specifically, verify that encryption is disabled or set to an appropriate level.

Gateway Version Compatibility:

  • There have been issues with MySQL support on the Power BI Gateway after version 66.8
