Hey Team,
We are exploring Fabric . a question if i share a lakehouse with another user, with the Read all Apache Spark additional permission checked, shouldn't the user be able to see all the files in the lakehouse in the user's Lakehouse explorer? or is this limited to seeing the files only in a notebook using spark.
My understanding was with ReadAll you should be able to view the files in Lakehouse explorer as well as read the files via spark notebook.
The issue is User is not able to view the files in the lakehouse. Please can someone clarify.
Thanks
Hi @msprog
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
I tried to repro the above scenario and was able to access the files using Lakehouse :
In Microsoft Fabric, when you share a lakehouse with another user and grant them the Read all Apache Spark permission, the user should indeed be able to access all data in the lakehouse using Apache Spark. This includes viewing the files in the Lakehouse Explorer as well as reading the files via a Spark notebook.

However, it’s important to note that the permissions received through sharing will always be Read only. You can’t grant Write permissions using the sharing feature.
If the user is not able to view the files in the lakehouse, it could be due to a few reasons:
The user might not have the necessary permissions to access the data. You can check this by navigating to your workspace, selecting the ellipsis (…) next to the lakehouse name, and then selecting Manage permissions.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
so with Read, ReadAll you should be able to view the files in the Lakehouse explorer , right? Please note the user doesn't have any workspace access. I am not able to get this to work for some reason. THis is the error:
The permissions are given : please see below
the user is test22.
Please guide.
yes, still facing, not sure what is causing this
