I am having some real issues at the moment with Power BI in fabric.
No 1 I am in trial and I will eventially have to move to F2 (Nothing I can do about that)
annoyingly you can't use Direct Lake connection to Delta Parquet in F2 so I wont be able to test this out for people. Especially as you cant flip Direct Lake to Import and would have to start from scratch. Its super frustrating
Next I tried to create a Semsntic Model from the Delta Lake. It automatically created the tables in Direct Lake mode. Seeminly there is nothing you can do about that. So I delete the tables and try again and you can't add any more tables.
Is that true at the moment. With the semantic model. You cant add more data. That seems....ridiculous.
I tried just in a PBIP desktop file and the same thing happened.
Is Microsoft dealing with these issues at the moment? Its making a good analytics package almost impossible to work with.

Hi @DebbieE
Hope everything’s going smoothly on your end. We haven’t heard back from you, so I wanted to check if the issue got sorted. if you have any other issues please reach community.
Hi @DebbieE
You atleast need F16 capacity ( VMs ). For small VMs, there will always be an issue with Direct Lake Semantic Model as well as Delta Lake. Also, These days the trend is to have Azure Public Cloud. No more on premises data...Unfortunate..Databricks you can start with delta lake very easy and Pay as you go option in Azure at the moment..Microsoft is losing customers.
Hi @DebbieE
I hope the information provided by @ToddChitt was helpful. If you still have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the community.
Not sure the issue you are having. But I seem to recall that the Default Semantic Model that they spin up for you for every Lakehouse and Warehouse you create are pretty much useless. I abandonded them a long time ago and create my own Semantic Models. You can do this my clicking on the Lakehouse or Warehouse, then in the ribbon at the top select New Semantic Model. (For Lakehouses, the button is obvious. For Warehouses, click the Reporting tab above the ribbon). You can only add tables that are actually IN said lakehouse or warehouse, but you don't have to take ALL of the tables.
There are actually several Ideas out there about totally removing the Default Semantic Model entirely.
Hope that helps
