can be calculated a new column by DAX function in olap cube in visual studio?

Hi everyone,

I have three question about OLAP cube in visual studio

1. Can be add a new calculated column base on two differ columns from two fact table in same cube by DAX function or another function ?

It shoube calculated by just only SQL query?

2. When I created a new column calculated member by expression, but when i run process button without error

and assigned with that measure as below as but I can not find that column in that measure.

3. It can be calculated a new column in OLAP cube in visual studio? May be add new extension or plugin.

a few points

  • You cannot use DAX in an OLAP cube
  • Calculated columns in the DSV use SQL syntax, but I never use them I prefer to create a view in my warehouse layer or update my ETL process if I need additional columns.
  • you don't need any other plugins or extensions

Thank you your quick answer to me. Because BU or BA would like to create a new column by themself.  After that, I wil suggest them to create a new calculated column by  ETL or in db. 😂
