1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @krishna_murthy,

Like @lbendlin said you should install it on VPS and NOT on your Main Device but you can try these Approaches to completely Remove it.

First ApproachClear the Package Cache

A common fix is that the installer cache is corrupted which prevents clean uninstallation and reinstallation

  • Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\ in File Explorer
  • Look for a folder with the GUID from your error log ({3ad9b3ce-fb87-4500-a4a9-68bcd3c696e4}) or any folder related to On-premises data gateway
  • Delete the relevant folder(s). This will allow Windows to properly recognize the product as uninstalled.

Second ApproachCheck .NET Framework

  • If Method 1 fails you can try uninstalling .NET Framework 4.8 (it appears in your Installed Updates list not Programs and Features) and then installing an older version like 4.7.2. After this the gateway uninstallation may proceed

Third ApproachManual Uninstall (Advanced So Double-Check)

  • Stop Related Services
    • Open Task Manager go to the Services tab
    • Stop the Gateway and GatewayServer services
  • Clean the Windows Registry
    • Press Win + R type regedit and run it as administrator
    • Carefully delete the gateway's entries from these registry paths                                               (Double check you are only deleting keys related to the On premises Data Gateway)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\

  • Finally Delete Leftover Files :
    • Delete the installation folder: C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway
    • Delete the local data folder: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises data gateway

Final Step : is to restart your computer (After every method)

and i have restart the laptop

You shouldn't really install a gateway on a laptop.

Anyway, if this is a Personal Gateway then you can safely delete the folder and clean the registry.

@lbendlin --- i have installed On-premises data gateway...
after that data source have been changed in desktop and again published same path , hence planning to change gateway.

Please elaborate. Not clear what you are trying to achieve.

On-Premise gateways should be installed as a service on a VM that is running 24/7 and is close to the data source.

The only exception would be if you need to run Python or R scripts as these require a Personal Gateway app.
