Sharepoint api version differences

Hi,

Pls help the differences with/without api version fetching data to query since I keep getting error:

OLE DB or ODBC error: [DataSource.Error] An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)'.

let
Source = SharePoint.Contents("https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxxx", [ApiVersion = 15])

vs

Source = SharePoint.Contents("https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxxx", [ApiVersion = 14])

vs

Source = SharePoint.Contents("https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxxx")

  • Hi Anonymous The ApiVersion=15 is for SharePoint 2013 or later (modern SharePoint Online), while ApiVersion=14 is for SharePoint 2010. If you don’t specify an ApiVersion, Power BI auto-selects one, which might cause compatibility errors. To resolve the issue, explicitly use ApiVersion=15 for SharePoint Online. Ensure there are no network disruptions or configuration mismatches in your connection.

      Hi,

      My query automatically detected api version 15.

      I created the sharepoint site in 2024 but can I still use version 14 just changing the number in the code?

      Then will be better or even lighter?
