To PBI developers and fellow users, The new October update bringing Grow to fit as a default has been frustrating to work with. As someone who has used Power BI for the better part of a decade I find it much cleaner and user friendly to manage my column widths instead of arbitrarily assigning widths based on the space of a block. This is how we all have been doing for years. Per the release notes: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-october-2025-feature-summary/ Auto expand table columns The Grow to fit option distributes extra space across columns for cleaner visuals. And I'm not the only one: As Kyle puts it, we are frustrated by being forced default options that, in our opinion, degrade user experience. I encourage making the service easier for new users to drop in things and make it look pretty with minimal effort. But now I have to go into each table and switch this setting each time I want to return to a traditionally auto-sized column. Please make the default "Fit to Content". Or at least give an option to set a client preference for one or the other. Thank you, generatorsam6.9KViews17likes11CommentsIssue with DAX Calculation
Hi guys! First of all thanks for reading and helping. Ok, let's suppose i have some price data like this Owner SKU BRAND DATE PRICE DESC RETAIL Company 74258323 A ######## 1180 Prod A WALMART Competitor 14325325 B ######## 3273 Prod B WALMART Competitor 1212434 C ######## 644 Prod C WALMART Competitor 12145346 D ######## 683 Prod D WALMART Company 74258323 A ######## 2154 Prod A WALLGREENS Competitor 14325325 B ######## 1945 Prod B WALLGREENS Competitor 1212434 C ######## 733 Prod C WALLGREENS Competitor 12145346 D ######## 577 Prod D WALLGREENS Company 74258323 A ######## 1742 Prod A TARGET Competitor 14325325 B ######## 1112 Prod B TARGET Competitor 1212434 C ######## 589 Prod C TARGET Competitor 12145346 D ######## 712 Prod D TARGET What i'm trying to calculate via DAX is a Price Index with this custom formula: (AVG Selling Price of my products / AVG Selling Price of my competence) * 100. I have so far this two meassures: ASP_Compete = CALCULATE( [ASP], 'Table'[Owner] = "Competitor" ) ASP_Company = CALCULATE( [ASP], 'Table'[Owner] = "Company" ) And a separate one for the price index wich is: Price Index= DIVIDE(ASP_Comp, ASP_Compete) * 100 From my logic it should work fine, but when i drop into any vissual i got the error: "Error fetching data for this visual: An unexpected exception occurred" Do you know if this is related to an issue of Power BI's version? Thank u again for your answers. RegardsSolved467Views0likes1CommentBetter Visuals Suggestion
Hi all, lbendlin dm-p Marc_Ponick I recently completed an analysis task for virgin atlantic which includes dashboard development. Some of the feedback I got was that a) I built a very basic dashboard. b)I created only basic calculated measures. The questions they wanted the dashboard to answer is as follows: 1. How does the load factor vary by the weekday of departure for each cabin? 2.What is the lead time profile (in days) between booking date and travel date, and how is it different for Upper class customers compared to Economy and Premuim customers? 3. Whats the difference in average revenue between TMC and Direct channel ? Does this vary by any other factor? Can anyone help with suggestions on how I could have improved my visuals based on the above and which measures I should have added?. I would really appreciate this so i dont make the same mistakes next time. Hello everyone, I've built a report that is to be used to summarise various economic data. I have been trying to add a slicer into my Power BI report to filter by country across all pages. I had managed to do this, but as soon as I deselected that country and chose another, the visuals wouldn't load. Having deleted the slicer, I cannot revert back either and now all visuals (charts/graphs) that would have been affected by the fitler are now blank. How do I rectify this? - My look clean (None across all pages, 'all' selected on each visual, etc.) - Table mapping of relationships appears correct - Table validation is also okay (e.g. for Italy there is GDP data, it just won't show in the visual) Am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance!Drill down on Matrix no longer an option after marking date dim table as date table
I have a matrix that I created that used a date dim table date field as one of the values. I wanted to add some previous months calculations to the matrix. In order for my dax to work properly, I marked the date dim table as a date table. Now however, The date field from the date dim table no longer shows a time hierarchy (year-> quarter -> month). it only has stagnant dates (1/1/2023). If you use the date field from the date dim table in a visual, does marking the date dim table as a date table prohibit the drill down feature? After marking the date dim table as a date, I now have this icon next to the field. Has anyone found a way to mark the date dim table as a date table, but still be able to use it in visuals that will allow the drill down feature?Solved1.1KViews0likes2CommentsSlicers sorted by column
I have a dropdown slider, and I can't seem to get it to display the information I'm looking for. Would very much appreciate anyone's input. I would like it to display the total idle downtime for each month. I would like the dropdown slider to display each of the above fields. However, when I try to put them into the slicer, I get the result below. I'm very new to Power BI, so please excuse me if it's an easy fix. I just can't find a solution anywhere. Thanks.SolvedSlicers sorted by column
