10526 TopicsInclude Analyze in Excel and XMLA queries in Usage Metrics for semantic models
Idea. Extend the built in usage metrics so they also cover direct semantic model access, including Analyze in Excel, Excel connections and other XMLA clients, and not only report and dashboard views. Why. Many organizations have users who consume a semantic model directly from Excel instead of opening reports. The standard Usage Metrics report only shows report and dashboard consumption, so owners cannot easily see how many people use a model, who they are, or how many queries they run. Today this needs audit log exports or workspace monitoring. Suggested behavior. A semantic model level view showing distinct users, active users over time, total queries, and the client application (for example Excel), available to workspace admins without extra setup. Benefit. Better decisions about certification, capacity sizing, and retiring unused models. Idea. Add a native date slicer style that lets users pick a start and end date from a visual calendar and choose quick ranges with one click. Why. Community members regularly ask for a Qlik Sense style date picker. Today the options are the Between slicer, the Relative date slicer, bookmarks, disconnected date tables with DAX, or paid custom visuals, and none of them gives calendar based range selection together with presets. Suggested behavior. A calendar with click to select a start and end date, optional presets such as Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month and Last Month, a custom range option, and support for fiscal calendars and the report time zone. Benefit. Users get the date selection experience they expect from modern web apps without custom visuals or extra modeling work. Users report that email subscriptions configured to trigger after a semantic model refresh did not go out as expected on 2 and 3 October 2026. What is reported in the community thread. The refresh itself completed, but the subscription emails were only delivered after 2 to 5 retry attempts. Why this matters. There is no visible delivery status or retry log in the service, so owners cannot tell whether a subscription failed, is delayed, or was skipped. Expected behavior. A subscription set to run after refresh is sent once the refresh completes, and any failure or retry is visible to the owner. Users report that personal bookmarks created in Power BI Service stop applying when clicked. What is reported in the community thread. Clicking a personal bookmark highlights its name, but the page or visual state does not change. It happens in multiple reports connected to different semantic models. A browser refresh usually restores it, but it can stop working again after switching to another report in the same session. Expected behavior. A personal bookmark applies its saved state every time it is clicked. Workarounds tried so far. Browser refresh and opening the report in a new tab. Hi, When trying to set up a connection to a new goal, I am encountering a bug where I cannot filter using the drop down filters. We have previously connected to these reports/app on many occasions however earlier this week, we noticed that it no longer works. I see the same issue if I try to connect to either an app or a report We found a similar issue mentioned 2 years ago by a user at another organisation but the solution is not public Power BI Goals Connection Issues - Dropdown slicers not working | Microsoft Fabric Community57Views6likes2CommentsPower BI Webpage scroll bar skipping
Is anyone experience skipping when scrolling through the Data panel in Edit mode? It isn't a hardware issue with my mouse as scrolling on any other webpage works fine. I have tried clearing my cache / browsing history and opening PBI in a different web browser.8Views0likes0CommentsPower BI Desktop 2.158.1304.0 – “Format pane headers stay visible as you scroll” not working
a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Hello, I am experiencing an issue with the “Format pane headers stay visible as you scroll” feature introduced in the September 2026 Power BI Desktop update. According to the September 2026 feature demonstration, when scrolling through the settings of an expanded formatting card, the card header should remain visible at the top of the Format pane. On my installation, the header scrolls out of view normally and does not remain fixed. Current environment Power BI Desktop: 2.158.1304.0 64-bit (September 2026) Previous version tested: 2.158.1177.0 64-bit Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime: 154.0.4258.62 Windows, 64-bit Steps to reproduce Open Power BI Desktop. Create a new blank report. Add a visual with formatting options that require vertical scrolling. Open the Format pane. Expand a formatting card, for example Data labels. Scroll down through the settings. The formatting card header scrolls out of view instead of remaining fixed at the top of the pane. Expected behavior The expanded formatting card header should remain visible at the top of the Format pane while scrolling through its settings, as demonstrated for the September 2026 “Format pane headers stay visible as you scroll” feature. Actual behavior The header disappears when scrolling and does not become sticky. Troubleshooting already performed Tested with both On-object interaction enabled and disabled. Restarted Power BI Desktop after changing the On-object interaction setting. Reproduced the issue in a completely new blank report, confirming that it is not specific to an existing PBIX file. Completely uninstalled and reinstalled Power BI Desktop. Removed remaining Power BI Desktop local folders before reinstalling. Reset the local Power BI Desktop user configuration by renaming User.zip, allowing Power BI Desktop to generate a clean configuration. The issue remained. Restored the original User.zip after the test. Verified that Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is installed. Version: 154.0.4258.62. Initially reproduced the issue on Power BI Desktop 2.158.1177.0. Updated to the newer 2.158.1304.0 build and reproduced the same issue again. The issue therefore appears to be independent of the PBIX file, the local Power BI Desktop user configuration and the On-object interaction setting. Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue with the September 2026 Power BI Desktop release, or whether there are additional requirements/settings for the sticky Format pane headers functionality? Thank you.3Views0likes0CommentsReport page as matrix visual tooltip does not work on row/column headings like the default tooltip
When using a regular tooltip on the matrix visual, the full tooltip (showing the value and the row and column categories) appears when you hover over the data portion of the table, and shows only the category values if you hover over the row or column headings. However, when using a report page tooltip on the matrix visual, it will also show the full tooltip when hovering over the data portion of the matrix, but unlike the regular tooltip it shows nothing when hovering over the row and column headings. Please fix the report page tooltip to have the same behaviours as the regular tooltip. Thank you.9Views0likes0CommentsMatrix visual should have a tooltip "well" to allow for "Tooltip fields only"
The matrix visual has an option under Properties-->Tooltips-->Tooltip fields only that will only show the values of the fields in the tooltips "well" / "shelf", but there is no tooltip "well" / "shelf" to put specific fields. Please add a place to put specific fields on the tooltip.6Views0likes0Comments
