Hi Good Day Can someone please confirm whether Power BI Report Server can be installed using the Developer Edition in a non‑production environment, and whether this option is free and does not require any additional licenses? Thanks in advance.Solved1.3KViews1like5CommentsPower BI Report Server On-Prem licensing
I am interested in using Power BI Report Server completely On-Prem. If I own a server, fully licensed with SQL Server Enterprise Edition with Software Assurance. Either running SQL Server 2017 or 2019. As far as I understand, this license covers me to install and run Power BI Report Server on the same server that´s licensed? What about consumers and report developers... Consumers need to view reports On-Prem. Developers need to publish reports using Power BI Desktop (optimized for RS). Do the developers that publish reports any licence... e.g. Power BI Pro? or is this included in the Enterprise with SA licence?Solved44KViews0likes6CommentsPricing, Licensing, and System Requirements for On-Premise Power BI Report Server Deplyment
I'm planning to deploy Power BI Report Server on our on-premise servers. Could someone provide details on the total pricing, the type of licensing required, and the system requirements for this setup? Thanks in advance!658Views0likes1CommentPOWER BI REPORT SERVER LICENSING AND INSTALLATION
Hi. We want to install Power BI Report Server in our company. We have one SQL Server Enterprise Edition (8 cores) with Software Assurance; therefore we meet the requirements needed. My question is: do we need to install Power BI Report Server in the same server where we have our SQL Server Enterprise Edition? Or, are we allowed to use the key in a different server? If this is possible, does the "other" server has to have the same number of cores or it does not matter? Thanks!Solved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsPower BI Report Server On-Premises SQL Standard licensing
Hello, I have a very simple question. I most probably know the answer, but I just want to be 100 % sure. Is it sufficient to have MS SQL Server Standard license to get Power BI Report Server license, or is Enterprise version required in this case ? Thanks in advance.Solved1.2KViews0likes2CommentsLicensing Power BI Report Server
Hi All, In the following article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/get-started It states the following If you publish Power BI reports to Power BI Report Server, you also need a Power BI Pro license. You don't need a Power BI Pro license to view and interact with Power BI reports on Power BI Report Server. Is the Power BI Pro license required to publish Paginated Reports (rdl) as well as Power BI Reports (pbix). Lastly, the Power BI Pro benefit that is included in the Visual Studio Enterpise subscription, can it be used to publish reports to production environments by developers? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/subscriptions/vs-pbi ThanksSolved2.9KViews0likes2CommentsHow to license splitting Power BI report server
Hi, We current have a single server SQL Server Enterprise Edition running SQL Server, SSAS and PowerBI in a 2 server AG cluster. The business wants to start moving reports from a different system to reporting services, so its not going to be feasible to continue running everything on a single server. My understanding is that if I split the PowerBI Report Server to its own server, it will mean we will need another Enterprise Edition license for the server. We do not want any cloud functionality so I believe the other licensing option is not the way to go. Would it be feasible to split the SQLServer service into its own server using the SQL Server Standard Edition instead, and having it in an AG cluster. Then Power BI and SSAS services will run on the existing Enterprise license on a separate AG cluster. Does this make sense? Apologies if I am using the wrong terminology, hopefully I am still able to convey what I am trying to do. TLDR Running a single server with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS & Power BI. Need to split things up accomodate increased usage, need advise on most cost effective and effective way to achive this. If things go well, may require additional report servers so scale out needs to be taken into account. Any advise would be appreciated. Hello My organization is interested in using Power BI desktop for developing reports and Power BI Report Server completely on-premises on our VM. Want to know about the cost for the same and VM configuration which will be used for the report server. What about consumers and report developers - a) Consumers need to view reports (Power BI report will be embedded in single page application). b) Developers need to publish reports using Power BI Desktop (approx 25 developers). Thanks in advance.Solved30KViews0likes6CommentsPower BI Report Server On Premise Licensing
Hello, I'm sorry if my question has been already adressed but as far as I know, I didn't the answer to my question. We have purchased a Power BI Premium license A4/P1 SKU and we have already installed a Power BI Report Server on Premise on a virtual machine which has 4 vcore. We would like to install another instance of Power BI Report Server on another virtual machine in order to make clear separation of use between two separates entities in our organization (obviously we'll need also separates databases but that is not a problem). What are the limitations in terms of licensing ? For example, is our Premium license enable for 8 vcore and so we can install another Power BI Report Server Instance in a 4 vcore VM ? Thanks all for your help, Alex.Solved1.8KViews0likes2CommentsPower BI Report Server Licensing Clarifications
Hi everyone, I am a little bit confused with all the information regarding the licensing of Power BI Report Server. Currently I have a scenario where I cannot take advantages of cloud so we will focus only on on-premises licensing. This is a BI architecture so we will be using a hosting company that provides the VMs for SQL Server with SPLA licenses (SQLSvrEntCore 2019 SNGL OLP 2Lic NL CoreLic Qlfd). Will I need to request more of these licenses from the hosting provider to the cover the Power BI Report Server VM? If so, are these licenses types ok to cover the PBIRS? If not, I need to request customer to aquire individual licenses for this and use BYOL? What is the licensing for UAT and DEV environments? Regards, LSSolved2.7KViews0likes3Comments
