Hi @Anonymous

Is your excel file local or in the cloud?

for local file,

(1) Please make sure that the document path is the same, and the field names in the document are the same. You can go to data source settings to get the path.

(2) then if it is a local file and you want to refresh it on the Service, please try this,

1. install the on-premises data gateway

2. After you install the on-premises data gateway, you need to add data sources that can be used with the gateway. This article looks at how to work with gateways and data sources that are used for scheduled refresh as opposed to DirectQuery or live connections.

3. After you add the data source, then you can use on-demand refresh immediately or set a schedule refresh.

for cloud file in OneDrive or SharePoint Online

(1) you can upload your new excel file to replace the old file, in this scenario, their Item ID is same, whick ensures the dashboard can continue to refresh.

(2) refresh

@Anonymous If you replace the Excel file in the same place with the same name then you can just use refresh to refresh the data. If the file is on-premises and your report is published to the Service you can install and configure the data gateway and then you will be able to schedule automatic refreshes of your data.
