Hi @aj1973 how to know if im using personal or entreprise? i already trying to connect this project as a personal proyect.
my email its an organization account , my university manage it.
It looks like an Entreprise Gateway running on your desktop and mapping to a different Cluster!
What is STAR MODEL?
A personal Gateway should look to something like this
no mapping is needed if it is connected directly to the source and the DB
So you need to secure which way you want to connect to your source.

hmmm, i already have Enterprise Gateway on my desktop,
k lets try again. This is my new configuration:
This is my users configuration:
This is my data base in Analysis services:
Another thing to know is that my PC is not in any DOMAIN is just a user "victo" with admin permissions
I have test my connection again and it say its ok but there is the problem on this view:
Hi @victor-15-a ,
According to the error message, the user who is currently viewing the report didn't have permission to access the data source. Whether this user was added to the Role list of the analysis service model? The email address of the user sign in Power BI must match a defined user principal name (UPN) within the local Active Directory domain. Are the report viewer account and the account DESKTOP-7L703JB/victo from different domain? If it does not match, you can map user names for Analysis Services data source.
How authentication works with Analysis Services live connections
Best Regards
I have check that the user(victo) im using have permission to access the data source, there is the photo
This user(victo) was added to the Role list in the analysis service model
my user sign in Power BI is map user names like this:
and still the same error
Hi @victor-15-a ,
Please try to update the version of your gateway to the latest one. And please map user with rule type "Effective user names" as below screenshot, you refer the following video to do it.
Map user names for Analysis Services data sources
Gateway: UPN mapping everyone to the same admin user
Best Regards
Hu @v-yiruan-msft ,
my gateway is already up to date (last version).
i'm using this configuration
thats cuz i have no access to the domain (already using a local account "DESKTOP-7L703JB\victo").
is that the problem? it`s possible to connect with a local user?
Hi @victor-15-a ,
Please try to change the value under With textbox from "DESKTOP-7L703JB\victo" to the UPN of the local Active Directory (looks like an email address) and later check whether it can access to the related data source...
Best Regards
the only problem is that its imposible to acces to my email address (UPN) because my university manage the email , so thats the reason that im trying to connect as an LOCAL USER without UPN of the local Active Directory
Hi @victor-15-a ,
Here is a thread that has a similar problem to you, please check whether its solution can also help you solve the problem.
