stuck on loading

There are few reports that are shared on a common workspace. The reports were accessible to all the users until yesterday, when i try to click on the report, it just sits on Loading.

Is there any issue reported ?

Also, does the user has to be a power bi pro user to access these reports ? these were embedded with our web app.

Hi, @Anonymous

No matter which option you choose, to share your content you need a Power BI Pro license, or the content needs to be in a Premium capacity. License requirements vary for the colleagues who view your content, depending on the option you choose.

Here is the difference between free license and pro license.

License type Capabilities when workspace is in shared capacity Additional capabilities when workspace is in Premium capacity
Power BI (free) Access to content in My Workspace Consume content shared with them
Power BI Pro Publish content to other workspaces, share dashboards, subscribe to dashboards and reports, share with users who have a Pro license Distribute content to users who have free licenses

For further information, I'd like to suggest you refer to the document .

Best Regards

Allan

@Anonymous If the users are consuming the report in embedded, and the workspace is part of an embedded capacity - then no, they don't need a license. If there is no embedded capacity, it won't work. Whether that experience is an infinite loading, or error, I can't say.

The other thing to check would be to ensure the embedded application user is still an admin on the workspace (permissions).

Thanks for your quick response on this @Seth_C_Bauer really appreciate.

I though the reports were embedded. when i click on the link it takes me to app.powerbi.com. i might be wrong.

Is there a correct document i can refer to , to make sure we are following this correctly

@Anonymous I assumed external embedding. If you generated the link in the service I wonder if you are embedding internally?

In any case, if you are embedding internally then the generate embed link you are likely using, described here -> https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/easily-embed-secure-power-bi-reports-in-your-internal-portals-or-websites/

Now - in this case the reports would need to be shared with all the users accessing the app where that report is. Also, they would need a Pro license, or your workspace would need to be covered by capacity - Premium. The documentation says EM, P - but you can also use an A sku in this instance as well.

If you are embedding in an external facing application you need an EM, A, or P sku to cover the capacity of the workspace and its a much more involved process between the App and the Report.
