"Sorry, we couldn´t find that dataset"

Hi all,

I´m facing a problem when trying to open the dataset linked to the usage metrics report:

If anyone knows the solution to this issue, I would be grateful

Thanks in advance

Hi @Anonymous ,

Usage Metrics Report dataset won't be seen in the workspace. But you can see this dataset in power bi desktop

Monitor usage metrics in the new workspace experience (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Q: What is the data source for the usage data?

A: The Usage Metrics Report dataset imports data from a Power BI-internal usage metrics store by using a custom Usage Metrics Data Connector. You can update the credentials for the Usage Metrics Data Connector on the Usage Metrics Report dataset settings page.

So, there is no dataset in power bi service workspace.

I don't think this is an acceptable "solution". We are after how to update the credentials for a Usage Metrics Report. The proposed solution everywhere (even from MS) is to delete the dataset via rest API, and recreate it. Doing so, you lose history of the metrics, is not a solution, is a patch. Anyone has found a proper solution we can call as such?

This is very clearly a stats game at MS to show a high 'solution' rate. Any time someone posts an issue some MS account posts "That's not possible" and marks it as a 'solution.'

It's stat-rigging, pure and simple. 🙂

MS REALLY needs to STOP marking posts like this as a 'solution.'

The OP clearlys hows a button called "View Dataset" so saying that "the dataset wont be visible" is not only NOT an a 'solution' it is also not even addressing the question at hand. OBVIOUSLY we are meant to be able to look at the dataset\semantic model because there is a button called "view dataset". 🙂

It seems RAMPANT here to reply with "That's not possible" and then marking it as a 'solution.' It's not a 'solution' It's an answer.

I wonder if the UI interaction could be changed here: It is a little confusing that there is an option to view the dataset and the only way you find out that getting the "Sorry, we couldn't find that dataset" message is the intended behaviour for a Usage Metrics Report is by learning about how it works behind the scenes on this forum post.
