No, my query works in the Power Desktop connect to Azure sql database.

My sql database uses database auth. So I'd like to know if this is the reason?

Import query works for power bi service.

If you read the documentation it occasionally states that a particular Power Query transform or a DAX function are not supported in Direct Query mode on the service. Can you check if parts of your code may fall under that restriction?
