Hi @rathi_nisha08 -Power BI doesn’t provide a direct "backup" feature like traditional database systems, but there are several methods to ensure you have a backup of your reports and dashboards.

If your dashboard was originally created in Power BI Desktop, ensure you have a local .pbix file. If the .pbix file is lost, try downloading a copy from the Power BI Service:
Note: This option is available only if the report was originally uploaded from Power BI Desktop. Reports created directly in the Power BI Service do not support download.
Go to your report in the Power BI Service.
Click on File > Download this file (.pbix). Save the .pbix file as a backup on your local system or in a secure location like a cloud storage service.

If you have Power BI Premium or Premium Per User (PPU), you can set up Deployment Pipelines to manage multiple versions of your reports and datasets. This allows you to keep development, test, and production versions, providing a form of backup.
Create separate environments within Deployment Pipelines. Any update to the production environment can be rolled back if you keep copies in development or test environments.
3. Save a Copy of the Report in Power BI Service
In the Power BI Service, you can manually save a copy of the report periodically:
Go to the report, click on File > Save a copy.
Name the copied version with a timestamp (e.g., "ReportName_Backup_2024-11-04") and store it in a separate workspace or folder within the Power BI Service.

Your solution is so great rajendraongole1

Hi, @rathi_nisha08

I think there is another way of thinking. Since the dashboard itself is made by pinning the PBIX file, you can back up your different versions of the PBIX file through git. If you delete the report in the workspace, the report will still exist in your git workspace.

There is another file type for Power BI that you need to be aware of: PBIP. PBIP file with devops environment. You can refer to the following articles:

Power BI Desktop projects (PBIP) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Then follow the following connection to sync your changed PBIP from on-premises to your workspace in Power BI service:
