how to disable editing a report to a contributor in power bi service

Hi Experts,

Is there any way that we can disable a contibutor to edit a report in power bi service or is there anyway that we can enable the user with Viewer role to download a report in power bi service.

There is no workaround or toggle to separate download from edit rights.

If you need a user to view only but also receive PBIX, best approach is:

• Keep them as Viewer in Power BI

• Manually send the PBIX via secure file-sharing (OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.)

Hi @TusharGaurav ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

• Contributors by default have edit permissions on workspace content.

• No way to selectively disable edit rights for Contributors in the same workspace.

• To prevent editing, assign the user the Viewer role instead.

• Alternatively, use separate workspaces or publish Power BI apps for view-only access.
