dashboard using direct query to connect to other datasets - error in sharing

Hi,

I created dashbaord PBI Desktop, which use direct query to connect and retrive data from other datasets. I used this to combine data from different dashboards published on different workspaces. For example one of them is "Dashboard XXX".

When I published my raport in workspace, only users who have access to "Dasboard XXX" can see related data on my dashboard. I tried to add only access to dataset which is connected to "Dashboard XXX" for those users (becase I do not want them to see dashboard XXX) but it is not working. Do you have idea how to resolve this issue?

Hi @martyska_sze

Sorry for not understanding the result you want. Do you mean you want the user to have the permissions of the dataset, but not the permissions of the dashboard related to the dataset? If so, unfortunately the function isnt supported. Because, if users own the access to dataset, then they must be able to have the access to the related items of the dataset.

But if the other way round, i.e. you want users have access to dashboard but not access to dataset, it could be realized.
